Our client is one of the UK's leading Waste Management Specialists, with a firm foothold across the whole of Europe and beyond. They pride themselves on their passion and continuous focus on recycling and replenishing the earth's valuable resources. They provide a full waste / recycling commercial / municipal collection services of multiple waste streams utilising various transport options including RCV's, Roll on/Roll off and skip vehicles to customers in the East region.

This role is based at our St Albans workshop and covers the Gerrards Cross depot and vehicle maintenance facility - St Albans is where the Workshop Team manage and maintain the fleet of vehicles required to operate the wide range of services provided to the local area.

About the role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Vehicle Engineer with a LGV background to join our client's Workshop, based in St Albans and covering both the St Albans and Gerrards Cross facilities.

Your core objective will be to help provide a full fleet maintenance solution to both our core operational services and our corporate clients. This role requires working days, including working one in three Saturday mornings. Your duties will include, repairs to all types of vehicles, plant and any other work to do with the service.

You are also required to attend roadside breakdowns and perform any duties deemed necessary by your supervisor, ensuring that current standards are maintained, utilizing both internal and external resources. A company vehicle will be provided as you will be covering both sites.

You will be required to fill in a daily worksheet / timesheet individual job cards, legal documentation such as safety inspection sheets for vehicle and body equipment and plant maintenance each day

You must perform duties in an efficient and effective manner that will ensure maximum productivity whilst ensuring that the task is completed to schedule. Any discrepancies are to be reported immediately to your supervisor. As with all roles within the business and strong focus on H&S must be adhered to at all times.

The specific skills you will need to demonstrate

Candidates must possess a proven track recorded working on LGV's and be apprentice trained, time-served as a mechanical fitter / technician and hold a current driving license, preferable an LGV is desired but not essential.

Efficiency in the following tasks; (Subject to an LGV Driver license qualification); Taking vehicles for M.O.T testing; Mechanical; Pneumatic; Welding; Hydraulics, is required.
The ideal person will be flexible and possess an enthusiastic approach to working in sometimes adverse conditions. You must be able to work on own initiative and you will be expected to supply your own comprehensive tool kit.

The ability to ensure the delivery of high levels of customer service is also essential in this role.
Good communication skills are essential for liaising with the customers and colleague and you must be prepared to attend internal and external training courses.
