About the role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Manager to join their fleet team, based in St Albans, Hertfordshire, to effectively manage the costs of Maintenance for the allocated Group Vehicles and to ensure the provision of vehicles, trailers and ancillary equipment, in line with identified operational requirements.
This role also requires you to ensure that all vehicles and trailers are maintained in line with the Company's Maintenance Policy and to satisfy all Operator Licensing and other legal requirements.

Your key responsibilities will be as follows:

  • ensure that all vehicles and trailers are maintained and serviced, in accordance with pre-planned schedules
  • ensure that vehicle ancillary equipment is maintained and tested /calibrated in line with the Company Maintenance Policy
  • liaise with operational staff to ensure operational requirements are identified and achieved; manage expenditure within budgetary targets
  • control labour resources and reduce costs by maintaining an effective purchase order system utilising the Tranman and Agora systems, and ensure vehicle and trailer maintenance records are completed accurately
  • The management of staff performance and productivity on site

About your Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

To be successful in this role we require you to have your City & Guilds, HNC, ONC or similar qualification. IOSH managing health safely and a CPC Qualification is also desirable. Experience within workshop management is considered advantageous but not essential. A HGV Class C licence is essential. You must be Computer literate with workshop systems and MS Office, and have experience in Budget control and P&L responsibility.
