Introduction

I'm looking to speak with an experienced and ambitious Software Engineer that's keen to develop their career by joining an established, award winning, and genuinely innovative engineering firm delivering the design, manufacture, assembly, and testing of a variety of unique signal and video processing solutions to a range of demanding highly regulated industries.

The Job

Being responsible for the design and implementation of embedded software solutions for new products and prototype systems, mainly to the defence sector, you will expect to cover a variety of algorithmic software design, analysis and improvement tasks as both an individual and as a key member of a project team within an Agile environment.

The Candidate

With an innovative and progressive mindset, you will be keen to develop technology at the forefront of the sector for demanding customers with a requirement for product excellence. Ideally experienced at working within an SME, the successful applicant will be one that looks to invest in ownership of a project and will appreciate being involved with end to end delivery.

Close co-operation between all elements of the design, production and test process is key, and the successful candidate will be one that seeks to engage with their colleagues, add value at every opportunity and proactively utilise lessons learned to develop their own and the company's overall best practice.

You will possess:

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering or another relevant discipline
  • Demonstrable experience of C and C++ programming for embedded systems, with the ability to write structured, efficient and self-documenting code.
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP)
  • Experience in a Linux environment

It would be advantageous to have knowledge of:

  • UML based object oriented analysis and design
  • Python
  • MATLAB
  • Computer vision

What's on offer

The opportunity to be part of an engineering business that is owned and run by engineers with a track record of success that has won multiple industry awards and generated a reputation for excellence.

An excellent starting salary alongside genuine development prospects will reward someone that is keen to build their career in this role. Personal achievement is welcomed, recognised and rewarded, and the right individual will have the opportunity to significantly affect the entire business.

There are opportunities for flexible working, a comprehensive package and the option to base from either a Southampton satellite office, or the company headquarters in Newport on the Isle of Wight.
