Our client are a leading Waste Management specialist operating across the Wiltshire and surrounding counties. With a focus on recycling, aggregates and concrete, they are seeking a Site Operations Supervisor to join them on their Resource Recovery Plant in west Wiltshire.
The plant itself recycles 75,000 tonnes of household waste via a mechanical and biological treatment plant (MBT) to create solid recovered fuel (SRF) utilised in renewable energy plants.

About the role
As a Site Operations Supervisor you will be reporting directly to the MBT Plant Manager, and your main task will be to optimize the operation of the MBT plant within the design parameters and permit/planning conditions; to control the reception of incoming waste streams and outgoing products; and to ensure that shifts operate in a consistent way by overseeing the operational duties of all shift personnel.

You will also be required to liaise closely with site engineering and technical support at other company locations and external contractors and to deputise for the MBT Plant Manager in his absence. This will present you with an excellent opportunity for career progression as you take on more responsibility and grow with the business. Normal hours are based on a 40 hour week, from Monday to Friday. You will be required to work alternating 8.5 hour shifts within the hours of 06.00 and 22.00. Candidates will also be required to be available on alternate Saturday mornings.

You will need a firm grasp of H&S and at the same time work closely with your team to ensure the company is working with the legislative controls in place for a fully operational MBT.
As discussed the role will encompass managing both the people and operation side of the business in a very process lead working environment. Ideally you will have previously worked within an automated process-based manufacturing environment. A knowledge of Waste Recycling would be helpful but equally prior experience in FMCG, Pharmaceutical / Chemical, Heavy Industrial, Aggregates, Quarrying, Energy Recovery, etc. would be considered.
Excellent communications skills are essential, both verbal and written as well as a high level of computer literacy. Waste industry experience, a Certificate of Technical Competence and knowledge of health and safety/environmental processes would be advantageous.
