Site Manager/Project Manager

6 - 12 Month Contract

Benin, West Africa

£300 - £350, Limited Company Day Rate

Our Client has experience and in-depth knowledge of the design and build of power plants as well as the operation and maintenance of base-load generation equipment worldwide. Our Client handles large and medium-scale power plants, CHP plants and renewable energy plants running on biomass or biogas.

As Site Manager you will have the overall responsibility of managing the site and will be representing our Client onsite facing customers, suppliers and authorities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that daily work assignments are completed according to the project time schedule and adhering to our Client's Health & Safety and Quality standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Daily management of the site
  • Chairing construction meetings and reporting of same
  • Weekly/daily reporting of project progress
  • Ensuring site Health & Safety requirements are adhered to at all times
  • Dealing with local contract negotiation for services including leasing/buying equipment, accommodation and employing local workers etc
  • Overseeing and ensuring the smooth running of site logistics
  • Coordination with customers/suppliers
  • Contact with local authorities such as construction authorities, fire authorities, working environment authorities and environmental authorities in relation to the construction site
  • Leading, managing and coordinating the site team and all contractors working on site

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of working on an Energy from Waste or Biomass project
  • Site based experience in a similar role and a strong understanding of managing a project through to completion ensuring the project is delivered on time and within budget
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both written and spoken English and French is essential for this role
  • Experience of working with FIDIC contracts (Fédération Internationale Des Ingénieurs-Conseils)
  • Demonstrable experience of staff management, customer relations and negotiations with contractors
  • Overseas work experience would be advantageous
  • Ability to work on own initiative for effective day to day management of the site
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
