JOB TITLE Safety & Compliance Manager - Waste Processing Facility - Up to £45k

LOCATION East Midlands

SALARY Up to £45k plus car

We are currently working with a leading Waste Management & Environment specialist who have asked us to help them source an HSE and Compliance specialist to join their flagship Material Recycling Facility in the East Midlands.

Our client are one of the UK's leading Waste Management and Environmental Specialists and as such own and operate a large scale Material Recycling Facility which forms part of a fully integrated 25 year partnership arrangement they have with the local council.

The role itself

They are seeking a proven Safety and Compliance Manager, with prior waste / recycling experience who can help reinforce the compliance and legislative aspects, company and site-specific requirements and at the same time help drive forward best practice.

Key responsibilities will include

To keep updated on all current and new legislative requirements, company policies procedures, and standards across the waste sector.

Drive the Implementation of the Integrated Management Systems (IMS) across all functions of the business.

Audit and internal SHEQ systems throughout the business, ensuring consistence and accountability at all levels.

To ensure all operational and none operational areas working within site are adhering to the organisations policies/procedures and practices which includes contractors, visitors and contract drivers.

To work with and liaise with the central SHEQ team ensuring that information is collected and collated for hazard and near miss reporting, external and internal audits and behavioural surveys. Ensure all relevant data is being collected and findings/trends are being presented to sites management team.

To ensure all relevant quality requirements are met and maintained, to include training of personnel, accurate data entry on to the sites data base and reporting of statistical information to the management team and third parties when required. Working alongside the Production and Commercial departments look to improve the quality of the incoming and outgoing material.

To help promote and manage change to produce positive results. Providing help and guidance to the management team for the delivery of the SHEQ agenda.

To organise and lead the site Safety Improvement Team meetings and identify / action improvements required.

To ensure vehicles, plant and or machinery exceed legislative requirements and to ensure ISO accreditation consistency across the whole facility.

To report into the Senior Management team on a weekly and monthly basis with your findings and areas for improvement.

To ensure all training needs are address and well documented.

What you will need to be able to demonstrate to be considered for the role

You will need to be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of the day to day operations found on a waste / recycling / aggregate plant and a sound grasp of the H&S and legislative issues found on such a site.

ISO accreditation experience with 4001, 9001, 18001.

Must be based within commutable distance of the East Midlands with a full driving licence.
