Senior / Principal Geotechnical Engineer


From £35, 000 - £45,000+ per annum plus package


Our Client, a leading Independent Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental consultancy operating within the UK, are now looking for a proven Geotechnical Engineer at Senior / Principal level to join their offices in Bristol.

At this level they are looking for people who can demonstrate a proven technical expertise combines with a strong client focus, able to lead business development and grow the workload in the SW and at the same time take on and manage existing business and already strong client relationships. Due to the regional nature of the work past exposure to work in in the South West would be exceptionally desirable. At this level career progression is a strong focus as the has the potential to lead to an Associate position within the company. For that reason they would be willing to consider candidates at the Associate level and would obviously look at salaries and packages on their individual merits that would match a position of this calibre.

At a Senior Engineer level it would be expected that you would be able to demonstrate over 5 years experience and working towards your chartership. With greater experience and chartership this would warrant the higher banding and greater responsibility and involvement in business operation and growth. With stromg design and problem solving skills you would be expected to be competent in using Eurocodes to work of a number of Geotechnical design projects including design piles, piled walls, foundations, temporary works, ground stabilisation, etc. combined with the planning, implementation and interpretation of all front end site investigations.

Once again at this level you will be able to demonstrate a strong all-round knowledge and will be competent at all stages of site analysis, design and project delivery work. This is an important role for the business and here you will grow to become a valuable member of this established office.

The Job

You will be an excellent communicator with good leadership, mentoring, people management and financial skills combined with a strong Business Development approach and a good understanding of regional clients in the SW. At this level you will work closely with other project staff and clients effectively and with integrity. With a real client focus you must be confident in highlighting and building strong working relationships from both new and existing clients.

You will also have experience in:

· Firm technical grasp of design principals across a wide range of geotechnical projects and fully versed in Eurocodes and ground movement analysis using 3D finite element analysis software.
· Supporting and lead tender designs across the business and support the Regional Director when required.
· First class project management skills and a winning approach to work.
· Mentoring and training young engineers to help them grow within the business
· Combination of site and front end investigation work with full design and Project Management involvement.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role, you should have:

· A degree in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical focus and / or MEng / MSc in a Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology
· 5 to 10 years' experience working on geotechnical projects in the UK.
· Ideally Chartered or working towards Chartered Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or appropriate professional body
· First class communication skills. Able to work with clients, sup contractors and in-house design engineering and PM teams.

What's on offer

This role offers a basic salary of £35,000 - £45,000+ DOE with a fantastic benefits package. This is negotiable, and they are willing to pay more for the right individual.
