Job Title Senior Process Engineer
Location West Lancashire (nationwide role also covering site in Kent)
Salary 50k to £60K plus car
Our client are looking to appoint a Senior Process Engineer to work with them on the Polymer recycling side of their business as it goes through a period of growth. With two fully operational plants in West Lancashire and Kent, and a further planned for Gloucestershire this is an existing time to join this thriving Recycling specialist. Your role will be monitoring current plant capability with regards quality and throughput and looking at ways to improve and enhance their present operations from an Engineering perspective.
The facility at West Lancashire recycles 36,000 tonnes of plastic bottles from commercial and local authority sources per year, producing plastic pellet and flake ready for use in remanufacture. The second plant in Kent using some of the most advanced materials sorting technology available, the facility is also capable of processing 75,000 tonnes of mixed plastics each year into segregated plastic grades ready to be reprocessed into secondary raw materials for use in the manufacture of a variety of packaging and other products .
About the role
Based on site you will monitor plant performance, quality and capacity in line with existing plant design, budget and / or customer specification. You will be tasked with leading plant optimisation across both plants, identifying solutions to engineering obstacles and improving both plant availability and productivity.
You with validate and support all site level initiatives, ensuring full technical preparation and due diligence is carried out to ensure all changes are safe, technically feasible and financially viable, rolling out successful changes and improvements across the other glass recycling facilities within the business. This will see you working closely with the project teams to help develop preliminary designs (PFD/PID) for new proposals and provide technical support throughout the design and construction phase of new projects. With a strong process led understanding you will look at the feasibility and nature of all improvements to ensure they are practical, cost effective and will have demonstrate long term benefits to the effectiveness and efficiency of the plants themselves.
Working closely with the Head of Engineering to highlight your findings, you will be offering a technical trouble shooting service across the operation, which will include incident investigation and route cause analysis, providing a series of robust solution to address the issues found. Working closely with other departments within the business including Operations, Maintenance and Project Management you will demonstrate first class people skills, able to interact with the teams to really understand the issues with regards the plant performance and not only re-engineer these but also drive the change management culture from within.
With further new plants on the horizon you will also be actively involved in their development, drawing from your processing knowledge and understanding of their existing operations. Due to the UK wide nature of their business and existing plants in Kent and Lancashire you could be based at either one of these locations, and be prepared to travel for this nationwide role.
Your knowledge, skills and academic qualifications
- Highly capable engineer with relevant technical background and level of expertise.
- Extensive Process Engineering experience in mixed material, glass, polymers and plastic recycling or similar discipline.
- A first grasp of the recycling or manufacturing industry would be advantageous
- Knowledge of corporate financial systems and capital expenditure management.
- Experience in the development of technical solutions from concept selection, through design development, installation and commissioning.
- Degree qualified in an engineering discipline.
