Senior Electrical Engineer

£300 - £370 Per Day
We are looking for a Senior Electronics or Electrical Engineer to work closely on various Diesel Plants in the UK. You will be working as part of a micro-business, who are a technology consultancy company who have 3 projects of high importance. This is a great opportunity for a senior electronics or electrical engineer with experience in power engineering to work in a small, fast-paced company on a range of projects. You will be able to work from home on a flexible basis.
The responsibilities for the Senior Electrical are:
Project-managing the hybrid upgrade, including helping with sub-contractor assessment and selection for the energy management system and battery supply, managing sub-contractors (for example, electricians, controls supplier), ensuring project deadlines are met, monitoring and controlling the budget and regular reporting to the site owner.
Managing a site, including the provision of information to a regulatory consultant in order to meet deadlines for the Capacity Market, dealing with an ongoing issue of under performance from the current operations and management sub-contractor/machine supplier, possibly helping to find a new sub-contractor, and robustly managing performance to meet operational and regulatory expectations.
Project-managing the repair and successful return to profitable operation of the gas generation plant, including any temporary generation arrangements. This is likely to include managing sub-contractors, line-managing the electrical engineer and site technician, ensuring project deadlines are met, ensuring that insurance and regulatory standards are met or exceeded, monitoring and controlling the budget and weekly reporting on progress to the site owner.
Setting standards for project management, quality control and health and safety for the internal staff and sub-contractors, ensuring that these are adhered to.
Supporting on other projects as required. For example, this could include: helping the owners of the generation plant to maximise the value of their plant, providing technical advice to our German sales agent or leading on an application for a UK government grant.
Essential skills for the role:
Excellent electrical/electronic engineering knowledge and skills. Excellent project management skills (preferably able to use Microsoft Project). Knowledge and experience of the power generation industry.
Good IT skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Good interpersonal skills, able to deal with people at all levels.
Good written and spoken communication skills.
