Nuclear Safety Engineer - Generation
I have a unique opportunity for a safety engineer / safety case author to join the nuclear safety group at an operational generation site in South East England. You will become part of the team responsible for ensuring continued compliance with the station safety case and associated operating limits, and will play a key role in helping to deliver the UK's clean energy future.
The role will be varied and challenging, with several tiers of complexity dependent on experience, and would include responsibility for the following duties:
- Understand, interpret and provide guidance to peers regarding Site Licence and Safety Case matters, to include including Operating Rules (Tech Specs), instructions (SOIs) and the maintenance schedule
- Develop, maintain and deliver assessment methods to demonstrate compliance with Safety Case limits
- Author, assess and verify appropriate changes to the Station safety case
- Act as Responsible Engineer on safety case submissions
- Provide support to Testing & Commissioning panels or Project Safety Review Groups
- Conduct Safety Case training to internal and external groups across the Station as required
You will hold a degree in a relevant field, to include physics, maths or an appropriate engineering discipline and will have applied experience in a complex safety engineering role within a high hazard / highly regulated industry. A working knowledge of nuclear generation technologies will be a distinct advantage.
Personally, you will have the flexibility and capacity to quickly gain an understanding of varied and complex engineering concepts, and be able to both take direction and display initiative within a team of highly capable colleagues.
What's on offer
Alongside a very competitive salary and fantastic benefits package, you will become part of a team that fulfils a crucial role in maintaining the safe operation of a significant part of the UK's clean energy generation infrastructure.
There is excellent development potential within the team as your capability and experience grows, with ongoing support towards Chartered status and beyond. You will also have unique access to the physical plant itself, granting a perspective on safety case activity that is simply not possible to obtain from an off site role.
