Introduction


We are looking to recruit a Plant Manager / Power Station Manager to join a new 40MW biomass power station in Rotherham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone keen on the challenge of joining a new power station during the construction & commissioning phase and guiding it through to full commercial operation.
Working for a European business who are new to the UK, you will be one of the first employees setting up processes and procedures that will be rolled out across the other new build power plants in their growing portfolio.


The Job


Joining the plant during the construction & commissioning phase, you will be responsible for managing the O&M provider's interests during this phase.
Reporting to the UK Operations Director, you will be tasked with setting up a mobilisation strategy, setting up operations and maintenance systems (SOP's, CMMS) and liaising with project teams.
Other duties will include.

  • Traveling to project offices in Europe during the construction phase.
  • Setting up plant systems (HSE, Quality, Maintenance, Operations)
  • Ensuring that the facility is operated efficiently and that all performance targets are met or exceeded.
  • Managing HSE, Quality and Environmental systems in accordance with OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • Managing the site's budgets and taking financial responsibility for the plant.
  • Tracking costs for capital project and outages.
  • Managing and developing site personnel.
  • Reporting on QEHS, Financial, Operations and Maintenance issues.
  • Recruiting Operations, Maintenance & Support staff.
  • Traveling to project offices in Europe during the construction phase.


The Candidate

Candidates will ideally have a proven track record gained within the power generation sector. This is likely to include experience gained at a Plant Manager / Operations Manager / Maintenance Manager level. Those with plant mobilisation experience would be at an advantage, although this is not essential.

Candidates will ideally hold a Degree in Engineering (Power Plant / Process / Mechanical / Electrical) However those with a strong work history in the power sector without this could be considered.
