About the role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager to join their team at their fully Integrated Waste Management site in West Berkshire. The site itself is a flagship facility incorporating an In-Vessel Composting Facility, MRF, Transfer Station and HWRC and provides a comprehensive range of services across the Berkshire region.
As part of the PFI contract you will be responsible for ensuring the business meets its KPI's through management and retention of recyclate through the treatment process and delivery of the HWRC service. The management of all safety systems, leading a positive safety culture and developing and implementing continuous improvements, also falls within the remit of the role.
Preparation, and achievement, of budgets for multi-facility sites alongside ongoing financial and efficiency monitoring of facilities, in accordance with the businesses technical targets and individual OPEX assumptions, is also a key requirement.
As the Operations Manager you will be tasked with ensuring the business generates high quality end products to maximise material sales revenue, whilst minimising residue disposal costs, alongside being responsible for the preparation and submission of KPI data. You will also introduce and manage systems to support compliance with the businesses legislative QHSE requirements, including detailed planning and permitting requirements, ISO certifications, PAS100 and best practice guidance for waste facilities. The management of the maintenance and operations teams, ensuring delivery of PPM schedules and production targets, is also another important aspect of the role.
About your Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
To be considered for the role you will be required to have a COTC covering transfer (haz) or treatment (MRF/bio/general), alongside being IOSH certificated. NEBOSH would be desirable but not essential. Substantial line management experience is also required. Sound knowledge of the following are also required; waste treatment processes and the wider industry, relevant environmental legislative governance, robust financial and operating efficiency, management controls and working to complex contractual arrangements.
Experience of working within waste treatment industry in complex facilities is obviously desired however past experience in a heavy industry / process lead environment would be considered. This could include prior knowledge in Transfer Station, Construction, C&D waste, MRF (Material Recovery Facility), Hazardous Waste Treatment, Wood Shredding Site, In-Vessel Composting, EFW, Demolition, HWRC, WEEE, Resource Recovery, Recycling, Demolition, Aggregates, etc.
