About the role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Head of Operations / Plant Manager to join their team at their fully operational Waste Treatment facility in Bristol.

Here you will be running the facility and ensuring that the day to day management of the plant is operating in a safe and profitable manner. You will directly manage the Operational and Engineering teams to maximise production and ensure the business meets its KPI's but at the same time driving forward a positive safety culture throughout the business and developing and implementing continuous improvement as part of your remit.

Environmental compliance is critical so you will work with all staff to ensure the conditions of the permits and all necessary legislation is strictly adhered to. You will also work directly with the Environmental Agency to develop a strong working relationship, ensuring the plant is compliant across the board.

With strong people management skills you will identify further training needs and help develop your staff accordingly. As the plant manager, you will produce risk assessments and safe working procedures for all tasks carried out on site, helping write the site rules to enhance the site safety for all employees, contractors and visitors and ensuring that all rules and procedures are followed accordingly.

About your Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

To be considered for the role, you will be expected to have previous experience of running a Waste Treatment facility and will be required to hold a valid COTC covering treatment.

Solid line management experience is required and a good knowledge of the following would be useful including; waste treatment processes and the wider industry, relevant environmental legislative governance, robust financial and operating efficiency, management controls and working to complex contractual arrangements.

Experience of working within waste treatment industry in complex facilities would be advantageous, however past experience in a heavy industry / process lead environment would be considered. This could include prior knowledge in Transfer Station, Construction, C&D waste, MRF (Material Recovery Facility), Hazardous Waste Treatment, Wood Shredding Site, In-Vessel Composting, EFW, Demolition, HWRC, WEEE, Resource Recovery, Recycling, Demolition, Aggregates, etc.
