Operations & Maintenance Team Leader - New Biomass CHP plant

£38,000 + benefits



We are currently recruiting an Operations and Maintenance Team Leader to join a brand new 7MW power generation site just south of Nottingham. The O&M Team Leader will ultimately be responsible for overseeing the hands-on maintenance work and operation of large boiler plant, generators and flue gas treatment plant and their associated systems. This role will involve some hands-on work but will predominantly be at a supervisory level


Reporting to the Site Manager the O&M Team Leader will be responsible for:

  • Deputising for and assisting the Site Manager in the day to day running of the plant. This includes people management, H&S compliance, site traffic control and tool box talks
  • Carrying out and supervising planned and reactive maintenance work on boiler plant, generators, pumps, motors, compressors and more
  • Control, quality checks and administration of the wood fuel stock & deliveries as well as stock control
  • Utilising and updating the sites CMMS to record and log maintenance work
  • Assist the Site Manager with outage planning as well as arranging cover for sickness and holidays when necessary

Knowledge, Skills and Experience...

To be considered for this O&M Team Leader position you must have:

  • A relevant technical engineering qualification such as C&G / NVQ / ONC / HNC in an engineering discipline
  • At least 5 years of experience in operations or maintenance in a heavy process environment (power station, energy from waste, biomass, paper mill, steel works) - ideally steam raising. This can be from power generation, energy from waste, chemical or utilities. Royal Navy Marine Engineers at LET level or above would also suit
  • Ideally an IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
  • Some supervisory or team leader experience would be beneficial

This role would suit an experienced Shift Operator / Operations Technician or Maintenance Engineer from the power generation / EFW sector looking for a step up in to more of a supervisory role.
