Mechanical Technician (Outages) - Energy from Waste

Circa £34,100 + benefits

Introduction...

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to join the Outage Team of a large energy from waste power station in the Cheshire area. As one of the larger EFW plants in the country the site has around 8 outages per year. As a Mechanical Technician, as part of the Outage Team, you will be responsible for the coordination and organisation of on-site contractors as well as PPM work on all mechanical plant.


Responsibilities...

Reporting to the Outage Manager you will be responsible for:

  • The day to day supervision of on-site contractors during outage periods
  • Carrying out planned and unplanned maintenance activities on all mechanical equipment including pumps, boilers, compressors, gearboxes etc
  • Ensuring the site CMMS is kept up to date and tasks are followed through appropriately
  • Carry out necessary risk assessments to ensure activities are completed in a safe and efficient manner



Knowledge, Skills and Experience...

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • Ideally a relevant technical qualification such as an C&G/NVQ/ONC/HNC in a mechanical engineering discipline
  • At least 4 years' experience in a hands-on maintenance role in a heavy process environment e.g. power station (coal, CCGT, CHP), EFW, biomass, steel, refinery etc. Royal Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered at LET level
  • Excellent understanding of Safe Systems of Work including; Permits and Risk Assessments
  • A flexible approach to working times as some night work will be required during outage periods
