Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Introduction

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join one of the leading suppliers of Drinking Water and Waste Water services across the South West Region. They have a strong track record of providing efficient, reliable and high-quality drinking water across the Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset areas. Working as a Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved in the day-to-day maintenance and repair of key assets within an internal repair workshop and will support on commissioning and installations when necessary.

The Job

Reporting to the Repair Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for…

  • The maintenance, service and repair of various specialist treatment process machinery, pumps and gearboxes found on water and wastewater equipment.
  • Carrying out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance as well as out of hours and breakdown cover in the field when required.
  • Cover all repairs and services in the workshop
  • Completing risk assessments, activity reports and other documentation as necessary.
  • Working with or in close proximity to chemicals in accordance with COSHH, Quality Management System Procedures and relevant Health and Safety standards.



The Candidate

To be considered for this position candidates will be expected to have received formal engineering training as well as having a background in performing maintenance/service work on heavy industrial plant with demonstrable mechanical experience.

Full training will be provided to get you up to speed on the equipment you will be working with, but previous experience working with water or wastewater treatment assets would be of an advantage.

This role is predominantly workshop based but may require working away from home at various sites so a degree of flexibility will be expected. Due to the nature of the role candidates must hold a full UK driving licence.
