Job Description

Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

Location- London

Salary- c£35,000

We are currently recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to assist in the day-to-day preventative planned maintenance & repairs at a Materials Recycling Facility based in South London.

The role requires you to work Shift 40hs per week 06:00 - 14:00 Monday - Friday.

If the operational need arises you may be asked to work the late shift which is 14:00 - 22:00 Monday - Friday

There is also guaranteed overtime working every other weekend (x 1.5 for Saturday).

Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator you will be operating / maintaining / testing large plant equipment including Conveyors; Balers; Optical sorters; various sorting screens; Grab & Container Handling Cranes; Hydraulic Waste Compactors & Mobile Plant

To be considered for this role you must have:

Recognised electrical or mechanical qualification

Educated to "GCSE" standard

Skills & Experience (indicate depth & breadth)

  • Good Communication both verbally and written
  • Adaptable and flexible and able to meet PPM deadlines
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Experience in operating/maintaining / testing Container Handling Cranes; Hydraulic Waste Compactors; Container Handling Machinery; Mobile Plant
  • Able to work within a team and be a team player

Your role will include:

  • Servicing and maintenance the company's mechanical and electrical plant as instructed by the appointing manager, in accordance with the set down schedules, specifications and manufactures recommendations.
  • Carrying out mechanical & electrical tests as required by regulation and legislation.
  • Work flexible hours commensurate with the requirements of the relevant site PPM & repair schedules.
  • To participate in standby duties and attend the sites outside normal working hours in the event of an emergency.
  • To ensure all necessary security procedures are properly followed.

Salary for this excellent opportunity is up to c£35,000.
