Medway, Kent

£47,000 - £58,000 + benefits

Introduction…

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to work for a global power generation company's 1275MW combined cycle gas turbine power station located in Medway, Kent. This plant is involved in the reduction of carbon emissions of up to 350,000 tonnes a year and consists of three Gas Turbines, a Steam Turbine and a Heat Recovery Steam Generator.

Roles & Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Acting as the site expert for all mechanical equipment and rotating plant, focusing on plant integrity and plant life maintenance
  • Ensuring maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely, on time and within budget
  • Deliver engineering best practice across all stations
  • Developing asset management strategies
  • Providing mechanical engineering support to the workshop team
  • Implementing maintenance techniques and best practices
  • Identifying areas of improvement
  • Engineering and managing mechanical plant developments/ projects
  • Managing high value maintenance contracts
  • Directing mechanical technicians and contractors
  • Ensuring HSE compliance at all times


Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Ideally degree qualified in mechanical engineering (minimum HNC)
  • Excellent technical knowledge of large rotating plant and associated equipment such as Gas and Steam Turbines, Outage Planning and Plant improvement projects.
  • Experience at engineer level in the power sector. This can include plants such as; CCGT, Coal, EfW or Biomass
  • The ability to handle multiple work projects running together
  • A good working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and standards to IOSH or equivalent
  • Budget experience


Salary & Package

  • A salary between £47,000 - £58,000 depending on experience
