3 - 6 Month Contract

£30 - £35 Per Hour, Limited Company Rate

Our Client is a provider of water management services with a key presence in the UK water industry.

As Mechanical Design Engineer/CAD Technician you will be based within the design office where you will be responsible for creating and developing design information relating to the design and build of water treatment plants. The aim of this role is to develop drawings which capture the Process, Mechanical and Electrical aspects of the design of these plants.

Responsibilities include:

  • Generate P&ID drawings for both tender designs and detailed designs
  • Generate 2D and 3D based GA drawings and models based upon information provided and on your experience and knowledge of process plants
  • Produce drawings of sufficient accuracy and detail for the specific requirements of the project/tender within the allocated timescale
  • Ensure that the design produced is commercially and technically the best possible
  • Maintain standards that conform to the company standards and procedures
  • Review the design drawings of suppliers and clients and incorporate these into drawings and designs
  • Generate occasional electrical drawings based up information provided by EICA Engineer
  • Produce designs that are compliant with Health, Safety and Environmental legislative requirements
  • Working closely with Process, Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineers, Project Engineers and Project Managers and other key personnel within the company and client organisations

Essential Requirements:

  • GCSE in English and Maths or equivalent
  • Proven experience in using Inventor package is essential
  • Demonstrable experience in 2D/3D AutoCAD is an essential requirement of this role
  • Experience of using REVIT package is desirable
  • Previous experience of working on the layout design of process plants, e.g. processing plants within the UK water industry
  • Experience of generating general arrangement drawings of process plants
  • Ability to use own initiative and knowledge to develop and expand layout designs with a consideration for the key design features of the plant / equipment
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Basic design knowledge and experience of equipment and technologies used commonly within the water treatment industries (e.g. Pumps, pipework, valves and tanks)
  • Ability to review the designs of others (colleagues, supplier and clients) providing supporting comments where applicable
  • Experienced in generating plant and equipment schedules from P&ID drawings
  • Technical competence and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
