Job Description

MATERIALS RECYCLING FACILITY MANAGER - SCOTLAND - Up to £55k

Our client, a leading Independent Waste Management specialist operating in West Lothian, has a requirement for a Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) Manager to be based at their new 'state of the art' waste treatment facility currently under construction in Scotland. This new facility will be operational in the early part of 2017 and will include mechanical, optical and air separation technology combined with traditional shredders, balers and drying equipment. The plant will provide fuel preparation services for the neighbouring EFW facility in the form of both RDF and SRF and is therefore pivotal in the overall project success.

As the MRF Manager you will be reporting in to the Managing Director and be responsible for the throughput of mixed waste streams including household, construction and demolition waste in accordance with environmental, waste and H&S legislation. You'll be fully accountable for the day to day (24/7) running of the site's permanent and temporary staff, ensuring that their safety and wellbeing is paramount at all times and be responsible for helping develop the overall Operational and Maintenance strategy.

Joining at the pre-start up and commissioning phase you will be instrumental in developing the organisational structure, responsibilities, shift patters, rotas and maintenance regimes for the plant and work closely with the main contractors throughout the commissioning process. You will demonstrate full financial accountability to the board and will be attuned to the overall plant performance and upgrades or modifications required moving forward.

You will also manage feedstock supply contracts, sourcing additional non-contracted feedstocks and at the same time secure and manage sustainable and profitable agreements for the export of RDF, SRF and recyclates not utilised by the adjacent EFW Plant.

To be considered for this role, you'll need to have extensive experience in running a large process plant coupled with excellent man management and budgetary skills and a true 'can do' attitude. Experience of materials handling equipment and site health & safety is also an essential requirement for this role.

In return our client can offer a very competitive package and the opportunity to manage one of Scotland's largest and most pioneering waste management projects to date.
