Job Title: Maintenance Technician - Electrical/Multi skilled

Our Client is one of the UK's leading provider of Environmental solutions, offering a full range of Waste and Energy Recovery services through a vast and growing network of Plants and Facilities across the country. They pride themselves in transforming what we as a nation tend to discard into a valuable resource, always maintaining the focus on reducing the carbon footprint and limiting the impact on the environment itself. As such they are looking for an Electrical Maintenance Technician/Engineer to join one of their established WEEE plants in St Helens which looks at recycling a range of Electrical equipment including Fridges, TV's and monitors and a broad range of small electrical items.

The ideal Electrical Maintenance Engineer:

  • Experience working within a processing, manufacturing or similar environment
  • Awareness of Environmental, Health & Safety regulations and their impacts
  • Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft office systems
  • Good understanding of a proactive maintenance strategy and condition monitoring
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and safety
  • Understanding of safe systems of work. i.e. Plant isolations and safety systems
  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical discipline
  • Full driving licence

Electrical Maintenance Engineer Responsibilities include:
  • Completing the Planned Maintenance inspections as defined by the site maintenance plan in a safe and effective manner
  • Planning and delivering corrective and reactive work, ensuring that tools, parts and materials are available and production downtime is minimised
  • Ensuring that all plant and equipment on site is improved and modified as necessary to maximise equipment availability, performance and the output levels required to meet production demands
  • Completing dynamic risk assessments where necessary to ensure safe working practices are upheld and risk reduced
  • Undertaking assessments of malfunctioning equipment and providing advice to the site management team to assist and influence decision making
  • Undertaking engineering project work and assisting with new installations or refurbishments
  • Completing condition reports and other documentation as defined by the maintenance strategy
  • Updating and administrating the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

What you will need

To be considered for this position, you must have relevant Electrical qualifications (Time-served Apprenticeship, C&G, 17th Edition, etc.) with a NVQ Level 3 as a minimum. They would also be willing to consider Multi-Skilled individuals with both Mechanical and Electrical understanding.

You should have experience working in a heavy process environment (ideally waste management, power generation, industrial plant etc.) and a working knowledge of maintenance practices including electrical fault-finding on PLCs. Those with an ex-forces background will also be considered.
