MAINTENANCE MANAGER - RECYCLING FACILITY - WILTSHIRE
Our client is a leading Regional Waste Management specialist, operating across Wiltshire and the home counties, managing both Recycling and Aggregate production across the South West.
They currently operate a state of the art MBT Recycling Plant and are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to help drive the productivity and performance of the Plant forward.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will manage the existing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) system, lead a team of technicians to continuously drive improvements in maintenance and scheduling.
The ideal candidate with be time served as a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer or the equivalent, with experience of developing and implementing a Planned Preventative Maintenance system and proven experience in managing a team. Prior experience in a process / manufacturing driven environmental is desirable and preference will be given to candidates from a Waste Management / Recycling / EFW or other Heavy Industry sectors.
Key areas of responsibility
- Develop a high-performing maintenance team, with a culture of delivery and continuous improvement, through effective leadership and management, delivering operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory legislation and the internal company Safety, Health and Environmental Standards.
- Drive improvements in plant availability and performance, including costs, through the implementation of maintenance best practice across the site.
- Own, develop and evolve the maintenance strategy, implementing a common maintenance platform.
- The implementation and delivery of maintenance procedures, initiatives and controls across all areas of responsibility.
- Liaise between functions to ensure team work, consistency, co-ordination and best practice to eliminate losses from poor practices or communication and to expedite learning.
- Develop and own annual maintenance budgets.
- Manage and further develop the established site maintenance management software system.
Your knowledge, skills and qualifications
The successful candidate will have proven Mechanical & Electrical maintenance background and be qualified to an NVQ level 3 or higher in your chosen discipline.
You will have a firm grasp of H&S and Environmental aspects in a Plant based environment and be full IT literate, with working knowledge of software based maintenance management systems and their day to day operation.
It is important that you do not accept the status quo and are willing to think outside the box to continuously look at improving Plant performance and productivity.You will have a proven track record in driving key KBI's forward and with strong people management and communication skills you will be capable of performing under high levels of pressure in a process driven Plant type set up.
You will be able to lead from the front, demonstrating the ability to maintain and make sound, timely decisions, without losing sight of the bigger picture, and/or long-term objectives of the business.
As a strong team player, you will be confident to communicate at all levels and be self-motivated and methodical in your approach.With a thorough with an eye for detail you will be capable of applying problem solving techniques and a continuous improvement methodology to the Plant itself.
