Our client is one of the UK's leading Waste Management specialist and as such are seeking an experienced Recycling Manager to join their South London based Recycling Plant. About the role

Based on an established Waste Processing Facility in South London your role will be to provide leadership and maintenance expertise across the whole production plant, which includes a MRF, MBT and busy Transfer Station.

In order to be successful in the role you will have first class man management skills combined with a strong working knowledge of PPM in a Waste driven environment.

Job description

You will be fully responsible for managing a small team of circa 5-10 engineers and fitters' mates, for coordinating equipment maintenance - planned, breakdowns and overhauls within strict budgets, and for controlling maintenance subcontractors in line with company policy and procedures.

Responsible for achieving monthly KPI targets and drive continual improvement of the team with a key focus on company values. Prepare site maintenance budget proposals, work within budgets, track expenditure and analyse performance data to report budget variances.
Previous people management experience is required for this role as you will provide leadership to Maintenance staff across three shifts and ensure tasks are undertaken according to Company Health and Safety standards and procedures and Quality and Environmental management systems. You will help maintaining a high standard of staff performance through coaching, training and development.

You will set-up, negotiate and manage maintenance contracts and schedules with external providers for specialist equipment or tasks that cannot be repaired by in-house engineers. Control on-site maintenance sub-contractors, including all safety procedures and work schedules, be part of the emergency coordination team and the business continuity team. Ensuring that maintenance requests from the 3 facilities are dealt with in a timely manner.

What you will need to demonstrate

The successful person will possess a Higher Engineering qualification with good experience of electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics and material handling equipment and proven engineering management experience. Maintenance experience in a fast paced production process environment is essential and E, C & I experience is desirable.

To work in this challenging sector you will be fully conversant with the maintenance of a complete range of material handling equipment utilised in a fast paced production lines - conveyors, baling equipment, low voltage equipment, motors, material handling equipment, plant auxiliaries, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical and optical separation, magnetic and Eddy current separation technology.
