Our client is a global leader in environmental solutions, providing a comprehensive range of waste, water and energy management services with a focus on the circular economy and preserving scarce raw materials. This will a be permanent role, to be based in Padworth.

Their Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) at Padworth is designed to significantly improve recycling and composting rates in West Berkshire. Improving the management of waste and at the same time meeting the statutory targets that have been set. The IWMF incorporates a number of individual elements that work together to contribute to the successful and sustainable management of household waste. The facility includes an In-vessel composting facility, materials recycling facility, municipal depot and vehicle maintenance facility and mini household waste recycling centre.

The Role:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Engineer to join the Engineering Team based in Padworth. The purpose of the role is to maximise through-put of the facility by managing the day to day maintenance of all plant and equipment. You will be responsible for the efficient maintenance of the facility, in a team of 2 engineers. The management of VES CMMS and the implementation of planned preventative maintenance requirements also fall within the remit of the role. You will be working on a range of equipment including Conveyors, roller doors, baler, a trommel screening line, optical sorters and shredders with some building maintenance work. The equipment is controlled via a SCADA system, but there is PLC support already on site. A basic electrical knowledge is necessary to resolve problems but a mechanical bias is called for due to nature of equipment.

You will also ensure safe, efficient and reliable plant operation, including maintaining and compliance of statutory inspections. The role holds responsibility for the management and coordination of equipment maintenance - planned, breakdowns and overhauls within strict budgets, in line with company policy and procedures, and the management/control of maintenance sub-contractors.

The role will be working 8.5hr days, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work by arrangement or offering breakdown cover.

Your Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:

Candidates need to demonstrate a GCSE Maths and English or the equivalent. A City and Guilds, Advanced craft, NVQ level 3, or BTEC ONC, in Engineering, plus formal qualification in maintenance, recognised formal apprenticeship, and background, with training in both Mechanical & Electrical engineering is considered preferable.

You will need to be able to demonstrate a thorough grounding and experience in a processing / manufacturing / production industry is required, alongside experience of hydraulics, pneumatics and material handling equipment. Knowledge & experience of working with mobile plant is also required.
