Lead C&I Technician - Energy from Waste Power Station

South East London

Salary up to £48,000 + excellent benefits

Introduction

We are recruiting for a Lead Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Technician to join the maintenance department of a well-established energy from waste power station in South London. This plant processes roughly 420,000 tonnes of waste per year and generates enough power to supply 48,000 local homes. As the Lead C&I Technician you will be responsible for assisting with planning and executing all C&I related maintenance activities to minimise plant downtime.


The Job

Reporting in to the Maintenance Manager, your responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:

  • Assisting the EC&I Engineer with the planning and execution of C&I related maintenance activities
  • Carrying out fault diagnosis, repairs, planned and unplanned maintenance activities on all C&I assets to maximise plant availability.
  • Support in the supervision of the contractors on site and conduct plant and area safety inspections when required.
  • Taking a lead role with regards to the implementation of C&I modifications and plant enhancement programmes
  • Compile reports relating to plant breakdowns, repair, fault diagnosis and general maintenance
  • Making sure all maintenance reports and logs are kept up to date via the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System)
  • Following all safe systems of work including carrying out risk assessments and issuing permits.
  • Ensuring maintenance plans and targets are achieved efficiently and ensuring all health, safety and environmental procedures and legislations are adhered to.


The Candidate

To be considered for this role it's important you meet certain criteria which includes:

  • A relevant technical qualification at ONC / HNC / HND level or equivalent in electrical / C&I engineering or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of post-apprenticeship experience in C&I maintenance in a heavy process environment such as power generation, chemical plant, paper mill, manufacturing, refinery etc.
  • Experience with installation, commissioning and maintaining control systems (DCS/SCADA/PLC) and Instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level)
  • Being able to demonstrate good management, leadership and team participation skills
