Job Description

Responsible for the day to day running of multiple Northern-based (Midlands, North West, Yorkshire) Landfill Sites.
Work closely with the department's landfill gas team to ensure best advantage from all operational facilities.
Liaison with other departments such as Engineering and Aftercare to ensure that site operations compliment each other and allow the progressive development of the site in accordance with all legislative requirements and Company strategic plans.
To provide managerial support to other facilities within the Landfill Energy portfolio.
This role requires a flexible approach to ensure vital tasks are achieved in a timely and precise manner. Although a staff contract it will require working at weekends, nights and bank holidays.
Deliver profitable, safe and efficient site operations at all waste management facilities within your remit to achieve budgeted financial targets.
Ensure that each site is operated to maximise revenue from all activities within the department, including the maximisation of landfill gas generation.
Develop the customer base at profitable levels and bring forward business opportunities to support or exceed budgeted business plans.
Ensure BMS procedures are adhered to along with the identification of environmental targets and objectives.
Develop and maintain liaison with the regulatory authorities and major customers along with a professional relationship with local residents groups and site liaison panels.
Ensure compliance with all Company procedures, statutory legislation and industry good practice.
Develop and maintain a close working relationship with the Engineering and Closed Landfill departments to ensure that site operations compliment each other's activities and allow for the progressive development of the site.
Demonstrate a good working knowledge of relevant legislation that relates to the operation of landfill sites.
Demonstrate a good working knowledge of relevant Health & Safety practises and training particularly in Risk Assessments and Safe Operating Procedures.
Demonstrate a good knowledge of waste disposal procedures, equipment and market development.
Have a working knowledge of leachate management systems including treatment plants.
Have a working knowledge of landfill gas management systems.
Sound commercial and business skills at a high level gained through exposure to the market.
Proven ability to negotiate and close deals at every level.
Proven ability to maintain a good standard of administration, cost control and record keeping.
Proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Ability to display a positive attitude at all times.
A proven ability to lead, motivate and develop employees and to manage them in an effective manner.
To have good written, numeric, IT and financial skills.
Ability to operate under pressure and to constantly changing deadlines and priorities
Previous experience of managing landfill sites or other waste facilities
Proven financial experience in budget setting and control, forecasting and month end reporting.
Proven experience of building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
Previous experience of managing a leachate treatment plant
Previous experience of managing landfill gas infrastructure.
Educated to at least GCSE Level, (or equivalent), in English and Maths.
Full Current driving Licence.
IOSH Managing Safety or equivalent H&S Qualification.
Hold a relevant COTC
Formal chemistry qualification
Formal financial qualification or experience of using financial software.
Formal IT qualification
