Head of Quality



My client is a specialist Electronics Manufacturer serving world class customers in high relabilty Industries. They provide a complete set of electronics design and manufacturing solutions in both PCBA and full box- build manufacturing

Key Resposibilities:

  • Ensuring that product quality, BMS adherence and customer concerns take priority across the business
  • Defining and documenting the quality policy and quality objectives, ensuring that both the policy and objectives are understood and implemented by all employees at all levels
  • Ensuring that appropriate processes are implemented to fully satisfy customer requirements and expectations
  • Defining and documenting the responsibility, authority and interrelation of key personnel managing the quality systems
  • Providing adequate resources for implementing and maintaining the quality systems
  • Conducting scheduled management reviews of the quality systems to assess their continued suitability, adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency
  • Ensuring that customer quality concerns take highest priority within the company and that they are resolved in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensuring that product specific quality features are identified before a build and ensure that the necessary instructions, controls and measures are in place to meet the customer specification
  • Ensuring that the company remains compliant with AS9100 through internal auditing and feedback to the management team. Assist the Directors with the preparation of the Company Manual
  • Ensuring the company adopts the principals of AS9100 i.e. measuring Customer Satisfaction, Process Effectiveness, and Corrective Action Closures
  • Taking direct managerial responsibility for the site Quality Compliance and Product Quality Managers
  • Ensuring that quality data is collected as per business requirements e.g. RMA analysis, inspection data, on-time delivery, test yield and CARs
  • Assisting with the specification and implementation of associated databases
  • Ensuring that these metrics are regularly reviewed by the appropriate teams and that corrective/preventive actions take place
  • Ensuring that responses are sent back to customers in a professional and timely manner
  • Identifying and participating in continuous improvement activities in areas such as process control, training, work instructions, operator awareness, tooling, etc.
  • Providing a focal point for the Inspection team in terms of guidance, support and arbitration
  • Representing the company in quality matters and being prepared to visit customers to discuss quality related issues
  • Having the authority to stop the manufacturing process if necessary to ensure compliance
  • Taking responsibility for Hook Facilities department, which includes EHS, machine maintenance and calibration

Role Specification

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role is essential
  • Must be experienced in electronics manufacture with an emphasis on the requirements of the aerospace industry
  • Degree or equivalent experience in appropriate Engineering discipline; Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering

Person Specification

  • Ability to interface with customers, lead and chair meetings, committees and working groups
  • Ability to communicate quality strategy at all levels
  • Experience of writing professional reports, procedures and process control documents
  • Leading staff development activity, both internally and with collaborative partners
  • Ability to motivate and influence at a range of levels from senior management to shop floor, setting goals and motivating and managing effectively to meet team objectives
  • Must be calm, with good communication and negotiation skills
  • Must be able to juggle and prioritise many issues at once
  • Must be conscious at all times of customer perception
  • Strong managerial skills
  • Will require full SC clearance with no caveats
