JOB TITLE: Head of Fleet - London Region

Our client is a global leader in environmental solutions, providing a comprehensive range of waste, water and energy management services designed to build the circular economy and preserve scarce raw materials. This role will a be permanent role, to be based in the London region and is key to the strategic growth of the business.

An opportunity has arisen for a London Regional Head of Fleet, to ensure that the Regional Fleet is safe, cost-effective & managed efficiently within legal and my client's guidelines, adding value to the regional operating business.

The Role:

This is very much a strategical role and a crucial position to the business. We are looking for someone who carries a high level of credibility to oversee circa 2000 commercial vehicles, with this to expand in 2017. Also, to oversee circa 150 none-direct reports and circa 10 direct reports of senior management across the London region.

We need someone who has been heavily involved with cost management, change management, P&L, municipal and commercial contracts (more so municipal) and have the ability to engage with key stakeholders internally and externally to shop floor level.

This role requires someone who is robust and is very self-assured in making critical decisions and implementing change within a well-established business. Innovation, leadership and influential skills are essential for this role, as you will be commercially aware at all times in how to grow and develop the business from a fleet perspective.

This will be an exciting and challenging role for the right candidate, as you will be operating in a dynamic environment with a phenomenal amount of opportunity to develop and progress within the organisation and gain full recognition for hard work and dedication.

This position requires a strong man manager; someone who has experience in a similar role, cost management and budget experience and someone who is structured and can make a follow processes with the ability to think quickly and take a solution orientated approach to each challenge which comes your way. You will engage with your workforce on a consistent basis and work closely with the existing management team to move the business forward.

This is very much a strategical role, with a strong hands-on presence, as you will be liaising closely with your teams and relaying crucial exciting information to the Global Fleet Director.

Your principal responsibilities will include:

** Maintain relationships with the Executive Director, Fleet Director, Regional Director, Regional Management Teams, External fleet and parts suppliers, Industry Bodies
** Category Management of suppliers including negotiations on parts, warranty & service levels, working within Fleet Policy and in conjunction with my clients Procurement Department
** Ensure legal compliance of all operating assets, including Yellow Plant, workshop operations and Health & Safety requirements
** Manage the P&L for fleet maintenance adding value to the regional business activity through vigorous cost control
** Manage the fleet maintenance budget process, both annually and for new business tenders/renewals
** Responsible for all maintenance spend within an allocated region and have full authority in cost control of an allocated budget

What you will need:

** Strong & proven background in a senior fleet management role
** Experience within the following sectors: Transport / Logistics/ Utilities / Waste / Recycling / General Engineering
** Commercial management of own P&L within fleet / operational environment with proven change management experience
** Expert knowledge of road transport legislation and fleet-related health and safety legislation (e.g. HASAW [Health and Safety at Work].
** Membership of The Institute of Road Transport Engineers and Institute of Society of Operational Engineers, holder of Certificate of Professional Competence (or be willing to undertake within six months of commencing role)
** Formal qualification and experience in vehicle engineering and compliance
