Job Title - Graduate Chemist/ Environmental Scientist

Location - Berkshire

Salary - £25,500

The Role

Our client, one of the UK's leading Waste Management specialist's is looking for a Graduate Chemist/ Environmental Scientist to join their Berkshire IVC Plant. As Chemist/ Environmental Scientist you will be working at our client's In Vessel Composting facility that converts garden and food waste into compost material as part of a large integrated waste contract.

The Role

As Site Chemist you will be responsible for the testing and inspection of process feedstocks and end products, managing samples to be sent for external analysis. You will work closely with site management to monitor the operation and health of the plant, calculating production targets and measuring site performance against Critical Limits to optimise performance.

As the Site Chemist, you will be part of the team that operates and maintains the plant in accordance with standard operation procedures determined by the contract KPI, accreditation and legislation.

You will work alongside operations to ensure the compliant and safe operation of the plant, ensuring compliance with PAS100, ABPR and the constraints of the PPC permit and planning permissions.

The Ideal Candidate

As the ideal candidate you will have experience working in a process industry (Anaerobic Digestion, Wastewater treatment, or Municipal waste is preferable) or have previously studied within these fields.

You will be proficient in working with IT and have the ability to learn a variety of computer systems to manage a plant. You will have previous experience in recording/reporting both qualitative and quantitative data, providing accurate assessment and compliance.

You will have excellent communication skills with knowledge of PLC, CMMS and PPM.
