Environmental Assessment Specialist
Competitive day rate (5-days a week)
6-month contract
Harwell

Introduction
Our client, a leading company working within the Nuclear Waste sector, currently require an Environmental Assessment Specialist to join their preparatory team at a new geological disposal facility in Harwell. The ideal candidate will have experience in Environmental Assessment and habitat regulation.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to all environmental aspects of site identification, evaluation and selection.
  • · The production of initial site evaluations and reports, focusing on environmental constraints and opportunities.
  • · Responsible for interfacing with colleagues to ensure environmental and sustainability issues are appropriately identified and addressed during the geological disposal facility siting process.
  • · Responsible for acting as Intelligent Client for work in the appropriate environmental technical disciplines.
  • Intelligent client for non-radiological input to radioactive waste disposability assessments, in accordance with RWM procedures.



Skills & Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following knowledge and experience:

  • Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
  • · Habitats Regulations Assessment.
  • · Health Impact Assessment (HIA) and Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA).
  • · Transport Assessment (TA).
  • · Non-radiological Environmental Assessment.
  • · Baseline surface data collection and forecasting.
  • · While experience working within the nuclear sector is desirable, it is not essential for this role.
  • Current BPSS clearance is desirable.



Rate

  • Competitive (inside IR35)
  • 6-month contract (5-day week, 8 hours a day.)
