ENGINEERING MANAGER - RECYCLING FACILITY - NOTTINGHAMSHIRE - £50K+


Our client is a leading Regional Waste Management specialist, operating across East Midlands, working closely with their customers to reduce waste and help draw attention to recycling and the benefits this can have on the business from both an environment and cost basis. Their proactive approach has been recognised this year at the Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management Awards and they are proud of the reputation they have developed.


They currently operate a state of the art MRF and three separate recycling facilities and are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to help drive the productivity and performance of the Plant forward.


You will be responsible for the day to day management of a team of skilled maintenance Engineers and Fitters, continuously driving improvements in maintenance and scheduling across the facilities.

The ideal candidate with have time served as a Engineering / Maintenance Manager or equivalent, with experience of developing and implementing a Planned Preventative Maintenance system and proven experience in managing Engineering teams and sub-contractors.


Prior experience in a process / manufacturing driven environmental is desirable and preference will be given to candidates from a Waste Management / Recycling / EFW / Quarrying or other Heavy Industry sectors.


Key areas of responsibility

  • Planned scheduling creation and overseeing the adherence and timely completion of work carried out. The implementation and delivery of maintenance procedures, initiatives and controls across all areas of responsibility.
  • Develop a high-performing maintenance team, with a culture of delivery and continuous improvement, through effective leadership and management, delivering operational excellence.
  • Drive improvements in plant availability and performance, including costs, through the implementation of maintenance best practice across the site.
  • Increasing the site operational effectiveness, improve on project delivery, mean time between failure and downtime reduction, and manage and implement improvement plans, driving Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.
  • Implementing and managing continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory legislation and the internal company Safety, Health and Environmental Standards.
  • Drive improvements in plant availability and performance, including costs, through the implementation of maintenance best practice across the site.
  • Own, develop and evolve the maintenance strategy, implementing a common maintenance platform.


Your knowledge, skills and qualifications


The successful candidate will have proven Mechanical & Electrical maintenance background and be qualified to an HNC or equivalent in your chosen discipline.

You will have a firm grasp of H&S and Environmental aspects in a Plant based environment and be full IT literate, with working knowledge of software based maintenance management systems and their day to day operation.

It is important that you do not accept the status quo and are willing to think outside the box to continuously look at improving Plant performance and productivity.You will have a proven track record in driving key KPI's forward and with strong people management and communication skills you will be capable of performing under high levels of pressure in a process driven Plant type set up.

As a strong team player, you will be confident to communicate at all levels and be self-motivated and methodical in your approach.With a thorough with an eye for detail you will be capable of applying problem solving techniques and a continuous improvement methodology to the Plant itself.

Ideally worked within a heavy Industrial Sector and have experience of FMEA, FTA, SMED, and implementation of autonomous maintenance programs. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the use of CAD and basic design skills and understanding.
