Introduction

Astute Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to join a new 40MW biomass power station in Teesside. This position will give someone the opportunity to join a new build power station during the construction & commissioning phase and guide it through to full commercial operation.


Your time will be spent acting as a technical specialist on all electrical matters, this will include commissioning routines, creating work packs, setting up the sites CMMS system, managing contractors and the day to day maintenance of the site when operational. Full support and specialist equipment training will be provided by the European O&M & Operator involved in this project.



What will I be doing?

Reporting to the Operations & Maintenance Manager typical duties will include:

  • Leading and managing a team of electrical technicians to ensure the plant is maintained to the highest standard to ensure maximum plant availability
  • Scheduling, planning and optimising all electrical maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner
  • Supervising and directing contractors.
  • Working closely with the operations department to assess and review plant performance shortfalls and how these can be rectified
  • Assisting in the setting up and development of the sites Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner and in line with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Assisting with commissioning activities.
  • Acting as a HV (SAP) throughout the project.
  • Training on OEM equipment in Europe.



What experience does role require?

In order to be considered for this fantastic opportunity, it's important you meet certain criteria including.

  • A recognised qualification in electrical engineering at HNC level or higher
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with a range of electrical plant including HV switchgear, transformers, motors, generators and variable speed drives etc
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy process industry, ideally power generation (EFW, biomass, CCGT etc)
  • Experience in leading a team of technicians in daily maintenance practices and procedures
  • Involvement in plant mobilisation and commissioning is desirable but not essential.
