Our Client is a leader in environmental solutions providing a comprehensive range of water, waste and energy management services. We are recruiting for an Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (EICA) Design Engineer to join a project team based in Birmingham.

You will be responsible for all EICA aspects on a water treatment project. Typically, this includes low voltage switchgear and motor control centres, electrical installation, control systems, operator interfaces and process instrumentation. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fantastic team working with a highly desirable client.

Responsibilities include:

  • Technical aspects for procurement of MCC, cabling, systems integration, process instrumentation, other electrical equipment and various process plant and packages
  • Produce load and instrument schedules
  • Assist with the preparation of contract programmes and budgets
  • Understand and develop the requirements of the process design following consultation internally and externally to produce software user requirements specification
  • Ensure information is available to sub-contractors for designs to be completed and review sub-contractor drawings and specifications against client and VWS specifications
  • Provide EICA input into design activities by other disciplines
  • Conduct detailed technical bid evaluations of quotations prior to placement of sub-contracts and purchase orders
  • Report internally on EICA aspects against budget and programme
  • Liaise with customers and end-users as required
  • Conduct FATs for switchboard, MCC and PLC/HMI software
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner, in line with the health and safety requirements
  • Conduct inspections and tests for electrical equipment and miscellaneous plant
  • Responsible for EICA design aspects of installation & commissioning
  • Visit site for meetings with clients, site team and installation supervision and commissioning
  • Provide assistance to tendering department in all EICA aspects of tenders
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in line with QA procedures

Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience of working in similar role within the UK water industry
  • Application of BS7671 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations
  • Strong standard of computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel)
  • Flexible working approach
  • Organisational skills for prioritising tasks in appropriate manner
  • To be able to commute to Birmingham daily and happy to travel to client sites when required
  • Health & safety awareness
  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with colleagues, suppliers, Project Manager and customers etc.
