DCS & Controls Commissioning Engineer
South West England
Rate: Negotiable
Initial 3 months
ASAP Start
We are looking for a DCS & Controls Commissioning Engineer to join a world leading Waste to Energy company. The candidate will be responsible for the testing of IO and control loops across the plant in its entirety, and also heavily involved with the commissioning of electrical and control systems.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Commissioning of electrical and control systems.
  • Practical experience of plant process instrumentation and diagnostics.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of instrumentation principles, PLC's, Control Systems, Emergency shutdown systems including SIL Loops.
  • Technical Trouble Shooting.
  • Ensuring installed equipment is operating at expected performance levels.
  • Completing commissioning documentation.
  • Management of IO testing across an entire DCS System.
  • Testing the Alarm Schedule for the DCS System.
  • Testing Control Loops including all levels of PID control.
  • Maintaining commissioning documentation.
  • Completing P&ID Checks.
  • Updating Drawings
  • Problem solving with Vendors and the commissioning team
  • PLC diagnostic interrogation (will consider a variety of controls experience)
  • Operating within a large team or working on small project individually



About the Person:

  • Strong diagnostic skills on Siemens and/or Allen Bradley (similar) PLC Systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Electrically Biased with at least basic mechanical skills.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Able to manage live documentation
  • Fluent with Microsoft office Packages
  • An understanding of the health, safety and environmental aspects of process plant.
  • Manage a small commissioning team
