Compliance Engineer - Energy from Waste Power Generation

Up to circa £55,000 + car allowance + bonus

Nationwide


Introduction

We are currently recruiting a Compliance Engineer to cover a growing fleet of Energy from Waste plants from Southern England to the central belt of Scotland. Based from the nearest EFW plant, the Compliance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all EFW plants are compliant with all statutory regulations and quality systems including LOLER, PUWER, PSSR and electrical and process safety.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Carrying out site audits and gap analysis to ensure operational and engineering compliance with all statutory regulations - PSSR, PUWER, LOLER, DSEAR
  • Establish and maintain detailed risk registers for each EFW plant and for the EFW business as a whole
  • Liaise and coordinate with all auditing bodies in relation to the fleet of EFW plants
  • Develop reports on the levels of compliance within the EFW business in ways that identify improvements achieved and drive performance using KPIs
  • Liaise and coordinate with over business functions to ensure efficient and effective compliance e.g. HSE Managers
  • Carrying out a gap analysis on each EFW plant to identify any risks or shortfalls across inspection and reporting systems
  • This role requires a flexible approach to work to ensure all critical tasks are achieved. On occasions weekends and bank holidays will need to be worked


This candidate in this role will be based from the nearest EFW plant which could be anywhere from South Wales, South London, Oxfordshire, Cheshire or the central belt of Scotland


Skills and qualifications:

  • An engineering qualification such as an HND/HNC in an engineering discipline, ideally mechanical
  • Proven engineering experience and knowledge gained in the energy from waste / power generation industry
  • Legislative knowledge of power industry regulations - PSSR, LOLER, PUWER, DSEAR, CDM & SSoW)
  • Knowledge of compliance standards and systems - ISO9001, 14001, 18001, 5001 etc.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with an ability to build relationships with site Operations and Engineering Managers
  • An ability to work alone with minimal supervision
  • An HSE qualification would be desirable - IOSH / NEBOSH
  • A full UK driving licence is essential for this role as it covers plants nationwide


Salary & package:

The successful candidate will receive:

  • A salary between £45,000 and £55,000 depending on experience
  • A car allowance of £500 per month
  • A performance related bonus
  • A contributory pension
