About the role:
Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading company within the Energy industry to recruit an Environmental Water Modeller for its office in Nottingham, with an option for Hybrid working.

Responsibilities and duties:
As Environmental Water Modeller you will:
  • Provide water modelling expertise and interpretation of model results to support the project lifecycle of new low carbon energy projects.
  • Work closely with our engineering teams to advise and inform on the development of projects within the context of environmental regulation.
  • Prepare technical chapters and reports for planning and environmental permitting applications.
  • Negotiate applications and permit / license variations.
  • Support the business in working with regulatory authorities in the development of environmental policy and regulation relating to new low carbon energy.
Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:
  • A degree or a Masters in a relevant scientific or engineering subject
  • Experience of hydrodynamic and thermal plume modelling of cooling water / waste water treatment plants discharges, or a consultancy setting using Delft3D
  • Ability to set up your own models, as well as run them
  • Experience with software such as Matlab, PYTHON and QGIS
  • Experience of specifying and contracting surveys for model calibration and validation
  • Experience with Environmental Agency's screening tests for surface water discharge risk assessments
  • Proven ability to manage a portfolio of work to cost, quality & time.
Personal skills:
The Environmental Water Modeller role would suit someone who:
  • Is able to present work in a manner that can be easily understood
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Is highly numerate.
