About the role:

Astute's renewables team is collaborating with a leader in the energy sector dedicated to resolving corrosion issues and advancing anti-corrosion technology to minimise maintenance expenditures and uphold the structural integrity of infrastructure within the energy industry. They are seeking a Corrosion/CP Engineer to join the team.

The Corrosion/CP Engineer role comes with salary of up to £65,000, Homebased/Hybrid working, Pension plus other company benefits.

Responsibilities and duties:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will:
  • Offer expert guidance on cathodic protection (CP) to ensure the successful completion of small, medium, and large complex projects within specified timeframes and budget constraints.
  • Act as a mentor and resource for all CP-related engineering activities.
  • Design CP systems, including Sacrificial and Impressed Current systems, for onshore, marine, and offshore applications, covering the entire process from concept to execution, in accordance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Determine project-specific technical documentation needs.
  • Perform CP data calculations, reviews, and analysis for both new and existing CP systems.
  • Specify the necessary CP equipment, such as anodes, TRU's, junction boxes, and monitoring devices, along with any other auxiliary equipment as required.
  • Prepare equipment data sheets and manage requests for drawings needed to support technical information, such as site plans, General Arrangement, and installation drawings.
  • Engage in technical report writing and review engineering technical drawings.
  • Develop Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) procedures and reports.
  • Attend third-party vendor sites to conduct quality inspections and FAT assessments.
  • Prepare installation procedures and associated documentation.
  • Create site acceptance test procedures, risk assessments, method statements, and site reports.
  • Contribute to concept engineering efforts for new or modified products.
Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:
  • A degree in a corrosion engineering discipline, HND, or equivalent experience.
  • NACE CP certification at Level 2 or above, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Significant experience in a similar role.
  • Membership in a relevant engineering institution (e.g., NACE, ICORR, IMARest, etc.).
  • Specific expertise in CP system design, encompassing CP calculations, technical report writing, and documentation preparation.
  • A willingness to travel globally to support CP activities.
  • Previous involvement in the offshore energy sector.
  • Current certification to work on offshore installations (BOSIET/FOET/GWO), preferably.
