My client has an opportunity in their busy Maintenance Department for a Mechanical Technician with a minimum of a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Engineering/Maintenance. They are a leading Chemical Manufacturer that supply into various markets for multiple clients.

The role is a multi-skilled position and you will be skilled in mechanical fitting, pipe fitting, machining and in the repair and maintenance of a variety of rotating equipment.

You will work individually, or as part of a team maintaining and repairing a wide variety of equipment including pumps, agitators, vessels and relief devices, fault finding and problem solving, with the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces. You may be involved in the commissioning of new process plant.

The maintenance team support production by providing rota coverage for weekends, Bank Holidays and a 24 hour breakdown service. You will be expected to join the rota work pattern once operational experience has been achieved, for which an allowance will be paid. Qualifications & experience in a chemical manufacturing environment are desirable, although training will be given to the suitable candidate:

  • Rotating equipment
  • Mechanical seals
  • Plant Equipment to PSSR (Pressure Systems Safety Regulations)
  • Relief Valves
  • Rigging and slinging
  • Pipe fitting
  • Milling/Turning



The role involves working within a strong team-orientated environment, so you will need to possess good interpersonal and communication skills. You will also have a proactive and flexible approach to work.

The post holder will be expected to act with due regard to the site safety and quality systems of work and to protect the integrity of plant equipment by good operating practice.

A pre-determined standard must be achieved in both mechanical aptitude and mental ability tests during the selection process.
