Managing Quantity Surveyor - Infrastructure/Highways
Salary up to £60,000 + Benefits
Astute Technical Recruitment are looking for an ambitious and driven Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client who is a world leading design, engineering and project management consultancy.
The position, based out of Southampton, requires someone who is experienced in delivering of the commercial services functions for the design of infrastructure/highways projects and construction using NEC 3/4 contracts.
Roles & Responsibilities: -
As Managing Quantity Surveyor your duties will briefly consist of (but not be limited to): -
Build successful working relationships with local and national highways authority clients
Provide support to the regional infrastructure management team in the growth of the sector regional
Responsibility, under minimum supervision, as lead QS or NEC3/4 Project Manager for larger, more complex projects relating to highways and infrastructure; including pre and post project controls.
Preparing Client cost reports and reporting on change during the life of a project.
Awareness of project costs outside of direct Construction (design, supervision, land, statutory undertakers, employer direct).
Understanding of Highways Construction technology and methodology alongside how this translates into costs.
Having leadership skills necessary to direct and manage the support team ensuring the quality and timeliness of service delivery
Skills & Qualifications:
Member (or working towards membership) of a professional body (e.g. RICS or equivalent recognised institutional body Active involvement on several commissions/projects as Lead QS or NEC PM
Established knowledge and understanding of the component parts of a project and overall project management techniques
Competent knowledge of a range of available procurement options
Effective review of contracts documents including familiarity with contractual obligations, breaches and remedies.
Good understanding and appreciation of programme and scheduling software. Forensic programming skills desirable but not essential.
General knowledge of current legal and regulatory developments in respect of construction and associated law.
Possess sound technical health, safety and environmental knowledge, applicable to the business and wider construction industry.
Client facing experience, including working with clients on a commission/project basis in conjunction with senior colleagues.
