Lead Mechanical Engineer - Consultancy
Bristol - £50-65k DOE
Astute are looking for an experienced senior mechanical engineer to work in a consultancy environment providing best in class project delivery to a portfolio of industry leading clients across the UK nuclear and defence sectors.
With a strong background in mechanical engineering, you will have a demonstrable record of safely leading project delivery to time, budget, and quality in a high hazard / high precision setting, preferably with experience of UK nuclear sector regulatory obligations and SLCs. Typical duties would involve leading recovery projects and tasks, and so the spirit to succeed in challenging situations is key, with a can-do attitude, an engaging personal leadership style and always a keen eye for the commercial deliverables on every task.
In addition to your technical engineering leadership expertise you will have superb communication skills, the ability to generate positive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, be comfortable to take a lead role with client engagement where necessary, and to both identify and then support business development opportunities when appropriate to do so.

The ability to be flexible and adaptable is a core trait for the successful candidate, enabling them to work across a broad range of utilisations within a consultancy that is confident to take on a variety of challenges in their sector.
However, particular experience or knowledge relating to the following areas within power generation would be a distinct advantage:
- Civil Nuclear - New build and operations
- SMR - Small Modular Reactors
- Mechanical Handling
- Systems Engineering
- Safety Case
