The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and coordination of a small team of engineers to ensure the delivery of the system designs for the SMR programme. The role will involve developing system design concepts through gated design reviews, using technical expertise to provide technical guidance and supervision to systems engineers, and engaging with external stakeholders on the nuclear system design. The technical lead will be responsible for developing the relevant safety system designs and associated documentation to the Office of Nuclear Regulation as part of the Generic Design Assessment.
The design technical lead will have expertise in the application of systems engineering to the development of nuclear reactor systems and will lead the delivery of the designated system designs into a fully integrated product solution in accordance with requirements flowed down from the project.

  • Develop and implement verification & validation strategies for the assigned reactor systems at the various stages of design maturity.
  • Collaborate with other design teams to achieve a coherent and optimised power station solution.
  • Develop and deliver detailed plans for the assigned design tasks.
  • Understand and articulate design and programme risks, managing them as appropriate with the Reactor Safety Systems Group Lead.
