Lead Technician - Nights
Waste Management
£37,000 Basic Salary + Shift Allowance


We are currently recruiting for a Lead Technician to join one of UK's leading Waste Management and Resource specialists. Working as a Lead Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of the facility by coordinating and completing mechanical maintenance across a recycling facility.

Roles & Responsibilities
As the Lead Technician you will be responsible for:

  • Scheduling all maintenance aspects of the plant to reduce disruption and increase uptime alongside the Supervisor.
  • Acting as Supervisor when the Supervisor isn't on site
  • Conduct and implement risk assessments for maintenance activities.
  • Investigate unscheduled down time whilst driving continuous improvement projects.
  • Assist in the training and development of fitter's mates and apprentices.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Overseeing the PPM maintenance schedule to prevent plant breakdowns.
  • Maintaining fast passed production line equipment i.e. conveyors, baling equipment, low voltage equipment, motors, material handling equipment, plant auxiliaries, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical and optical separation and much more.

This is a night shift position covering from 10pm to 6am, Monday to Friday. Please only apply if this is suitable for you.

Skills & Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Hold a NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
  • Be trade qualifies in MIG and Arc welding techniques
  • Have a good understanding and previous experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and material handling equipment
  • Have previous experience working in the waste or recycling sector.
