Astute was founded by Chairman and ex-power generation engineer Terry Buckel in 2006. He built the business on the promise of offering a superior level of technical qualification and industry knowledge to ensure more quality matches between people and opportunities. Today, Terry leads the business, carrying these principles forward and guiding Astute through a period of accelerated growth.

Keeping our employees happy and healthy
We encourage our staff to have a healthy work-life balance. In addition to our flexible work policy, we also offer a 9-day fortnight, allowing our employees to have more time to spend how they want to spend it.
Making a positive difference in the community
One way we aim to make a positive difference is through our CSR strategy. We are passionate about contributing to our local community and supporting local initiatives, like sharing our knowledge at STEM events with schools and providing work experience for students. We are also proud to support multiple charities including Solent Mind – a leading mental health charity in Hampshire - and Family Action – a charity supporting families with practical, emotional and financial support.
At the beginning of each year, our employees get the chance to pick our charities of the year, allowing us to focus on our fundraising and awareness-raising activities. Many of our employees are also involved in charitable work outside of work which you can read more about in our blogs.
Blood donation is another cause that is important to us so we have a ‘Blood Club’ to help support NHS Blood Donation.
