Estimator - Engineering

£20K - £25K + Bonus + 1/2 day Fridays

A brilliant position for an Estimator has become available to join a great Engineering company in Havant, Hampshire. You’ll have a good understanding of Engineering and will work closely with the Design and Production teams to produce Estimates for new products which are in development. A lot of the work is bespoke, so it is rare that two products are the same, and this makes your role a very varied and an important one,and will keep you very busy as you’ll continually be sourcing new suppliers!

You will be based within the Engineering department, and will work closely with the Mechanical Design Team, who will pass you technical CAD drawings of products set to go into production. Your challenge will be to review the Bills of Material, and develop estimates for both the cost of manufacturing the product, and the likely mark up which could justifiably be passed to the customer. You will spend time sourcing and speaking with potential suppliers, to get an idea of cost for materials. This will help guide the Purchasing Team who, further down the line, will audit and negotiate best price / service with them.

The three core components of each product are Machined Parts, Plastic Mouldings and Electronic components. An understanding of all three components is advantageous although not essential, but a good understanding of general Engineering processes is important. When not estimating, you will update Bills of Materials, and could also be trained to assist the Design Team in some basic AutoCAD design. There is a strong possibility for career development, potentialy in to the engineering environment, for the right candidate.
