Power Stations
ASTUTE’s Power Station technical recruitment division comprises a team of experienced Consultants with a genuine passion for the sector. Their challenge is to keep abreast of the latest technologies, as exciting new methods of Power Generation develop, especially with the need to consider ways of combatting climate change and reducing CO2 emissions. Our work in this sector is diverse, from working with some of the biggest Power Station Operators, through to the relatively small, but rapidly expanding International companies working in developing economies around the World. We partner with companies who are involved in Power Generation, Renewable / Sustainable Energy, and Energy / Carbon Management.
Our experience and expertise covers both UK and International assignments in the following technologies:
- Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT)
- Single Cycle Gas Turbine
- Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT)
- Coal Fired
- Oil Fired
- Combined Heat & Power (CHP)
Some of our key projects within Power Generation have been to ‘crew-up’ complete new build Power Plant facilities with a full compliment of O&M staff. Assignments have successfully been completed in the UK, and also overseas, supplying Resident Engineers in Dubai, Plant Managers in Africa and Construction Managers in Italy.
Key Projects: New Build 840MW CCGT Power Station
ASTUTE recently partnered with a large player in the Energy sector, on a new build CCGT Power Station. Involved from an early stage, we developed a Recruitment Strategy aimed at the complete “crewing-up” of Technical / Engineering staff for the site. This strategy involved educating the Plant Manager / Senior Management about the timescales involved in a large recruitment drive, the publications (Both local and national) we would need to utilise, and possible difficulties which we may encounter. The project gained sign off, and we successfully sourced candidates, starting with Senior Management through to Shift / Maintenance Team Leaders, and subsequent Technicians within both Maintenance and Operations. We demonstrated an ability to provide an advisory service, and a recruitment drive to rapidly source a complete technical Engineering workforce.
