Astute’s Energy, Power and Renewables Division comprises a team of Consultants with a genuine passion for the sector. Their challenge is to keep abreast of the latest technologies, as exciting new methods of Power Generation develop, especially in the Renewables field where Wind, Hydro and Photovoltaic Energy grow in popularity and effectiveness. Our work in this sector is diverse, from working with some of the biggest Power Station Operators, through to the relatively small, but rapidly expanding, Biomass market. We partner with companies who are involved in Power Generation, Renewable / Sustainable Energy, and Energy / Carbon Management.
Some of our key projects within Energy and Power have been to ‘crew’ complete new build Energy facilities with Shift / Maintenance Operations Technicians, and to provide a range of technical candidates to help establish UK Wind Farms, a significant growth market. Assignments have successfully been completed in the UK, and also overseas, supplying Resident Engineers in Dubai, Nigeria and Pakistan.
Key Projects: New CCGT Power Station
Astute recently partnered with a large player in the Energy sector, on a new build CCGT Power Station. Involved from an early stage, we developed a Recruitment Strategy aimed at the complete “crewing” of Technical / Engineering staff for the site. This strategy involved educating the Plant Manager / Senior Management about the timescales involved in a large recruitment drive, the publications (Both local and national) we would need to utilise, and possible difficulties which we may encounter. The project gained sign off, and we successfully sourced candidates, starting with Senior Management through to Shift / Maintenance Team Leaders, and subsequent Technicians within both Maintenance and Operations. We demonstrated an ability to provide an advisory service, and a recruitment drive to rapidly source a complete technical Engineering workforce.
Key Projects: Wind Farms
ASTUTE’s profile in the Wind Energy sector is increasing, as we work with both Wind Farm Operators, and also companies providing technology and project management skills to the sector. We have succesfully placed candidates in a range of technical roles, including Project Managers, Health & Safety Managers, Electrical Engineers to co-ordinate Grid connection, GIS Technicians to identify potential Wind Farm locations, Civil Engineers to manage Installations, and Software Engineers to develop Real-Time software programmes to monitor Turbine efficiency. Our commitment to the Wind / Renewables sector is compounded by our involvement with the British Wind Energy Association, and our attendance at conferences such as BWEA 29.
Our reputation in the Energy / Power sector is strengthened by providing a Technical Consultancy service which is unique within recruitment. Using our extensive network of contacts within the industry we can provide consultation for: -
· Feasibility studies
· New technology assessments
